Class 59 In a roller mill of the kind having pairs of rollers 11, 17; 12, 18; 13, 19 disposed .axially one behind the other and in which one roller of each pair is adjustable with respect to the other roller of the pair, the .adjustable rollers 17 to 19 are mounted on a common shaft and are jointly adjustable to give a coarse adjustment, while to give a fine adjustment they are carried individually'by eccentric parts which can be turned independently of one another. The rollers 17 to 19 are carried together in bearings 20, 21 by spring-supported arms 23 which are each rocked about a pin 22, to give a coarse adjustment, by a rod 24 and bell-crank lever 25. The rollers are held in the adjusted position by means of a stirrup 27 embracing a bolt 28. To give a fine adjustment, the roller 18 is carried by an eccentric part 30 of a shaft 31 which has keyed thereto a worm wheel 32 engaging a worm 33 mounted by its shaft 34, which is manually rotatable, on one of the arms 23. The rollers 17, 19 are carried by eccentric bushes 37, 42 each carrying a worm wheel engaging a worm mounted by its shaft on one of the arms 23. The rollers 17 to 19 are coupled together for driving purposes by means of plates 53 each with two pins 54 which rest in apertures or guides in end discs 55 which are secured to the rollers. The bottom rollers may be rotated by means of a belt passing over pulleys 58, 59. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bottom roller at each side of the mill is driven by the corresponding upper roller by means of a belt 77 passing from a driving pulley 59 over pulleys 58 on the 'bottom rollers and over tension rollers 101. 102 which are adjustable by means of eccentrics. The construction may be such that a belt or chain drive for a bottom roller is provided at each end of the mill.
