Abstract

547,181. Crushing-apparatus. BURRELL, A. J. Feb. 8, 1941, No. 1718. [Class 59] Crushing - apparatus for clinker ores &c. comprises a pair of rollers 10, 11 disposed within a rotating horizontal cylindrical screen 6 having lifters 7. for carrying material to the upper portion of the screen and there discharging it upon the roller 10 and upon a feed plate 26 which directs the material between the rollers 'to be crushed. As shown, the apparatus is in the form of a vehicle and the screen and rollers are driven from a shaft 12 through gearing including friction pulleys or rollers 5 engaging with the screen ends. Material passing through the screen is carried away upon conveyer band 27 driven from the wheel 29 by the chain 28. In starting up the apparatus the belt 14 is moved from loose pulley 15 to a fast pulley on the same shaft. Removable annular spacers may be provided upon the rollers 10, 11 for predetermining their distance apart. The Provisional Specification refers to clutch mechanism for starting up the apparatus and states that more than one pair of rollers may be mounted within the screen.
