Abstract
370,114. Roller mills for crushing coke &c. GREEN, R. W., 16, Lower Oldfield Park, Bath, and ALDRIDGE & RANKEN, Ltd., 39, Victoria Street, London. Feb. 16, 1931, No. 4800. [Class 59.] In a machine for crushing coke &c. comprising a pair of oppositely rotating spiked rollers, the adjustable roll is mounted on rocker arms 10 fixed to a shaft 11 extending across the machine. The fixed roll is mounted on a shaft 4 supported in bearings 8 and the adjustable roll is supported in bearings 9 carried by the arms 10. The rollers are geared together by wheels 14, 15, 17, 18, the wheels 14, 18 being fixed to the roller shafts 4, 5 respectively and the wheels 15, 17 being mounted as idle wheels, the drive being transmitted to the rollers by a pulley 13. The shaft 5 is movable in arcuate slots in the side members of the machine the movement being adjustable by a rod 25 with a bifurcated end 27 pivoted to the arms 10 at 28. The rod 25 passes through a sleeve 22 screwed through a support 21, a spring 24 being interposed between the bifurcated end 27 and the end of the sleeve 22, the compression of the spring being regulated by a nut 23. Movement of a hand-wheel 23 on the sleeve 22 regulates the spacing of the rolls and the spring 24 permits the rolls to be forced apart when unbreakable material passes therebetween.
