Abstract

336,687. Keet, G. C. E. Julv 24, 1929. Roller and roller-and-breast mills.-Friable material is reduced by being fed between the concave and convex grinding surfaces of two grinding rolls one of which is oscillated continuously in the direction of the other. The roll 6 is continuously oscillated in the direction of the roll 5 by means of toggle-links 15, 16 operated by an eccentric 11 through a lever 12 and link 13. The roller 6 is mounted on a pivoted arm 10 and the lever 12 has an adjustable fulcrum 20 which may be moved by a screw 21 to vary the travel of the roller 6. The roller 5 is mounted on a shaft supported in bearings 7 and is driven by gear wheels 8<a> from a shaft 9 on which the eccentric 11 is mounted. The rollers 5, 6 are concave and convex respectively and the toggle 15, 16 reacts against a spring 18 secured to the frame of the mill.
