Abstract

317,981. Whatmough, W. H. Aug. 9, 1928. Wet grinding; roller mills.-Apparatus for dispersing solids in liquids comprises a high speed mill, e.g. as described in Specifications 293,510; and 304,178 [Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.], followed by a roller mill whose rollers are maintained substantially in line contact and preferably have a relative reciprocating movement. The Fig. shows a suitable mill in which the roller 2 is pressed against the roller 1 by adjusting-screws 5, while the roller 1 is given a reciprocating longitudinal movement by the swash-plate mechanism 7.
