Abstract

210,027. Gelder, J. P. van. Aug. 20, 1923. Impact pulverizers; roller mills. - A disintegrator for pulverizing friable materials is provided at the upper part of the boater-casing with one or more pairs of grinding-rolls 11, 12 which receive from the beaters 2 particles of material too large to pass the screen 3 and reduce them, the reduced material passing over the top of the roll 11 and down into the casing with the feed from the throat 8 and escaping through the screen 3. The upper part 5 of the casing is lined with replaceable hard-metal anvil-blocks 6 having corrugated faces 7, and a similar replaceable plate 9 is provided in the lower part of the feed-throat 8. The rolls 11, 12 are mounted in a chamber formed by an extension of the upper part of the casing, and may be of the same or different diameters and driven at equal or different peripheral speeds. The bearings 13 of the roll 12 are free to move in slides 14 under the action of one or more springs 15 adjustable by means of nuts 16. The springs abut against a yoke 18 adjustable by means of nuts 19. A throw-out lever 20 mounted on eccentric trunnions 21 acts against the back of the thrust-spindle 17. A scraper 23 bears against the face of the roll 12 and inspection doors 10, 24 are provided. Duplex mills in which two beater-shafts a.re provided may be fitted with two pairs of rolls, one pair for each set of beaters.
