Abstract
529,361. Roller mills. HUME, W. R., and HUME PIPE CO. (AUSTRALIA), Ltd. May 30, 1939, No. 15940. [Class 59] In a machine for crushing stone &c. of the type comprising eccentrically and concentrically mounted crushing rollers, the concentric roller is fixed to a shaft which is positively driven so as to exert a positive crushing and feeding action upon the material, as it is forced against the face of the concentric roller by the reciprocating movements of the eccentric roller. As shown, a roller 2 is loosely mounted on an eccentric portion 3 of a rotating shaft 4 and co-operates with a roller 7 keyed to a rotating shaft 6. The bearings 22 of the shaft 4 are stationary and abut a block 23 contacting with a cross-beam 21 forming the end of the bearing guides. The bearings 16 are adjustable in the guides and are positioned therein by a block 18 and packing pieces 19. The sides of the casing may be provided with wear liners 29 adjoining the nip of the rolls and a brake band 26 may be attached to the shaft 6. Material from the hopper 11 falls between the nip of the Tolls and is crushed by the reciprocating and turning motion of the roll 2 with the rotation of the roll 7, the roll 2 being rotated by the frictional drag of the roll 7. The rolls may be driven independently or together.
