Abstract
A mill has grinding rollers 11, Fig. 1, mounted on a rotatable plate 10 at the bottom of a grinding chamber 1 and cooperating as a result of centrifugal force with a rolling track 4 or ring which is located above the plate 10. Each roller has a spindle 12 and a pivot 13 permitting the roller to move outwards against the ring 4. Counterweights 16 provide for adjustment of the roller pressure. Feed is via a chute 17, and distribution by blades 18. Air from a volute 2 is deflected at 3 between the rollers and ring and carries away the ground product via an outlet 19. Partially ground material falls back into the mill. A separator may be fed by the mill, and several roller-and-ring stages may be used one above the other in succession. Each roller may be mounted on a shaft 12', 12', Fig. 2 secured at one end to a swingable stirrup 14 which has coaxial pivots 15, 15'.
