Roller mills.-In a sugar cane or like roller mill, a scraper 6 is carried by brackets 9, Fig. 1, from or by the bearings of the rollers and is maintained in contact with the roller by springs 14 or weights whereby the scraper moves with the roller. The bracket 9 is fixed to each of the bearings 3 of the floating roller 1 and supports a bar 7 at each end of which is an arm 11 under the control of a spring 14 on a rod 12 pivoted to the bracket 9. The scraper 6, which may be flat, ribbed, grooved &c. to correspond to the surface of the roller, is attached to a part 6<x> secured on the shaft 7 so that the pressure of the scraper on the roll is adjustable by the spring 14. The bar 7, Fig. 4, may be adapted to slide in slots 8<x> formed in the side brackets 9 and is pressed onto the roll by an adjustable spring 14.
