Abstract
628,333. Sheeting plastic materials by rolling. SHAW, P. Dec. 6, 1946, Nos. 36093/46 and 24472/47. [Class 87 (ii)] A sheet of plastic material which has been formed between rollers A, B is removed from the roller B by a knife C which is held in yielding contact throughout its entire length with the roller surface by gravity or by spring action. The knife is screwed to a bar joumaled at D<SP>2</SP> in bearings which may be carried by the bearings of the roller B or may be independent thereof, and which are adjustable. The bar may carry a frame G<SP>1</SP> the lower member G of which serves as a rail along which a roller weight H<SP>1</SP> may run to a limit determined by adjustable stop bars J joined to the frame. The frame may be retained in the inoperative position, indicated by broken lines, by allowing the weight H<SP>1</SP> to move past the pivot D<SP>2</SP> of the frame. It is stated that the sheet clings to the roller B owing to this roller being heated to a higher temperature than the roller A.
