Abstract
278,174. Rose, A. G., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. Sept. 29, 1926. Feeding and registering webs.-In apparatus of the kind described in Specifications 200,238 and 266,398, for feeding a strip or web bearing designs at spaced intervals in registration with a cutting or other device adapted to operate upon the web, in which a first pair of feed-rollers feed the web towards a retarding-device which causes the formation of a loop in the web, and a second pair of feed-rollers is brought into action to feed the web forwards after it has been moved to a definite position by means of a pin carried by one of the second pair of rollers or by a reciprocating member, such pin engaging perforations in the web, an adjustable member is provided adapted to vary the length of the part of the web between the second pair of rollers and the cutting &c. device so that exact registration with the cutter and of the designs on diffenent webs can be effected notwithstanding variations in the spacing of the perforations in the webs. A third pair of feed-rollers may be provided to feed the web to the cutter &c., these rollers slipping when the web between them and the second pair of rollers is taut. In one arrangement the web 1 passes from the second pair of feed-rollers 2, 3 and the reciprocating registering-pin 4 to the third pair of feed-rollers 7, 8 over a bar or roller 10 adjustably secured in a slot 11 in the machine frame 12. In a modification, an eccentric bar or a spindle on which is eccentrically mounted a roller is angularly adjustable in the machine frame, and in a further modification a roller is carried by arms angularly adjustable on the frame.
