Abstract

305,445. Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullagerfabriken. Sept. 1, 1928, [Convention date]. Rolling.-Two-high rolling mills for plates in which small diameter working rolls are backed ,by supporting rolls, have friction gearing for transmitting the drive from one of the rolls to the other. The rolls 3, 10 have their bearings, which are preferably roller bearings, supported by blocks 4 vertically guided in the frame by grooves 5 engaging the ends of removable bolts 6. Drive is imparted at 1 to the lower supporting roll 2. The roll 3 is driven frictionally from the roll 2 and carries a pair of friction discs 13 adjustably spring- loaded at 14 and arranged on opposite sides of a disc 11 on the roll 10, which drives the upper supporting roll 16 frictionally. The bearings of the roll 16 are supported by bolts and springs 22 acting in opposition to the pass adjusting screw and the required degree of friction between the rolls 16 and 10 is secured by bolts 18. If found necessary similar bolts may be used between the bearings of the rolls 2, 3. In a modification. the friction discs are mounted on the rolls 2, 16. In a further modification the discs are dispensed with as also the bolts and springs 22 and the bolts 18.
