Abstract

419,426. Rolling. TIMKEN ROLLER BEARING CO., Denber Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A. June 30, 1934, No. 19362. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1933. [Class 83 (iv).] To prevent the grinding of flats on the support rollers 3 during the idling of the working rolls 1, the rolls 1 are pressed up into good driving frictional contact with the rolls 3 by two pairs of rollers 15 urged towards each other by springs 27. The rollers 15 bear on the roll necks and are hollow and are mounted by taper roller bearings on their shafts 8 distanced between the side plates 7 by shaft collars 9 and flanged bushes 13. The inside of the rollers 15 are filled with lubricant retained by closure washers 19 and a spring piston ring 20, the washers being secured by dowels 21.
