418,724. Cylindrical roller bearings. HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., New Street, Chelmsford.-(Assignees of Deutsche Kugellagerfabrik Ges., and Witte, A. ; Leipsic, Germany.) March 2, 1934, Nos. 6721 and 6723. Convention dates, March 23, 1933 and Oct. 27, 1933. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (ii).] The rollers c of a cylindrical roller bearing are separated by distance pieces d of substantially rectangular cross-section with which the rollers have only line contact, these distance pieces being free to be become seated against the outer race a under the action of centrifugal force independently of the movement of the rollers. Lubricant recesses e, Fig. 3, may be provided in the outer surfaces of the members d which are made of compressed non-metallic material with good running properties. In a modification, the separating members are wide compared with the rollers and have line contact with the outer race along their two outer edges.
