Abstract

590,163. Bearings. GROVES, W. W. (Andrews Co.). April 17, 1945, No. 3715/47. Divided out of 590,160. [Class 12 (i)] A ball bearing comprises substantially mirror image race members 41, 42, each member having a pair of races 43, 44 separated by a cut-out 45, the circumferential surface contact of each pair of races with the balls being on a line 49 passing through the centre 50 of the bearing so that the balls 57 act as a tapered roller. The line 49 preferably passes through the mid-points of the races, and the cut-out 45 separating the races may contain oil and a cage as described in Specification 590,160. Alternatively the balls 57 may be held in a cage 60 between the races.
