Abstract

242,779. Czemba, F. J., and Wilson, H. W. Nov. 3, 1924. Ball and roller bearings.-A bearing particularly for rolling mills and that can be handled as a unit comprises a sleeve 11 keyed to the journal of a roll, the sleeve having a central flange 15 with a double row roller bearing 20 on one side and a ball thrust bearing 24 on the other side. The bearings are contained in a housing 19 having lubricant passages 37 therein leading from a lubricator 38 to the bearings. The bearings are retained in the housing 19 by an adjustable flange 27 carrying adjusting screws 29 bearing against the adjacent end face of the housing 19. Holding-down bolts 31 screwed into the housing 19 and each passing through a clearance hole in a member 29 retain the flange 27 in adjusted position.
