444,199. Lubricating bearings. HAHN, H., HAHN, 0., and TESSKY, K., (trading as INDEX - WERKE HAHN & KOLB), Esslingen-on-Neckar, Germany. Sept. 15, 1934, No. 26525. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1933. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (iii)] In a high-speed bearing having rolling elements between relatively movable races, lubricant is supplied in small quantities and a large part thereof is removed from the bearing at a point or points within the axial limits of the races. As shown, a roller bearing is supplied with lubricant from a felt pad d which bears of the periphery of the roller spacing cage c and which periodically receives a drop of lubricant through a pipe e. The bearing surface of the outer race ring f has an obtuse-angled oil groove h, and oil entering this groove h flows outwardly and out of the bearing through recesses i and passages k. The lubricant may be introduced at the sides of the bearing. In this case the oil is discharged preferably at the middle of the race and the grooves h are directed to correspond.
