Abstract

321,997. Fletcher, G. H., and Associated Electrical Industries, Ltd. Aug. 28, 1928. Centrifugal-action lubricating.-A ball or roller bearing 4 is lubricated by oil which is picked up by a disc 9 from a well 7 and thrown against the sloping upper wall of the housing 5 from whence it flows into a channel 12 or reservoir. A passage 13 leads some of the oil to the outer race ring 3 and some drops on a collar 11 having a conical perimeter which conveys the oil to the inner race ring 2. Oil leakage on one side of the bearing is prevented by a throwing ring 22 fixed to the shaft and a groove 23 and labyrinth packing 21, and on the other side by channels 18, 19 and labyrinth packing 20 on the cover 16. An oiling disc 9 and its associated parts may be arranged on both sides of the bearing.
