Abstract
173,754. Cesbron, L. J. Jan. 10, 1921, [Convention date]. Roller mills.-A process for converting groats and semolina into flour consists in causing the materials to undergo the action of two non-contacting rollers which revolve at high speeds, for example up to and over one thousand revolutions per minute, the rollers revolving at different speeds and being preferably made of a grinding- material such as alundum, carborundum, or corundum. The speed ratio of the rollers may be three to four. Instead of being made of grinding-material, the rollers may be cast iron &c. As shown diagrammatically, the materials fall into a hopper a which distributes them between the rollers b, c. The rollers may be driven independently or motion may be transmitted from one to the other. The apparatus may also be used for extracting flour particles from bran or for cereal crushing.
