[Class 59] [See also Group I] A machine for cleaning, husking, rolling, or grinding corn comprises a number of spaced discs or segments keyed at an incline upon a shaft and co-operating with a cylindrical or conical casing surrounding the discs, the discs having plain circumferential surfaces extending parallel to the inner surface of the casing. The casing and the discs may be relatively adjustable so that different operations may be successively performed on the grain within the casing by varying the distance of the discs from the casing or separate devices may be used for husking the first and the second skins, a brushing device to clean the fissure of the grain and other devices to roll and grind the cleaned grain. As shown in Fig. 1, angularly set discs 2 rotate in a stationary casing which is provided with a filling aperture 8, a sifting surface 5, an adjustable grinding surface 11 and a brushing surface 9. The discs may be inclined at the same or at different angles to the shaft. An air exhauster withdraws light particles from the casing. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, two shafts 14, 15 carry stone discs 12, 13, keyed inclined at an angle ; segments 16, 17, 18, 19 surround the discs 12, 13 and are simultaneously adjustable through levers actuated from a shaft 43; a hopper 24 is fitted with rotary valves 25, 26 so that grain can be fed to the discs 12, 13, alternately. Sifters 31, 32 may be removably inserted in the outer arms 33, 34 of the segments 16, 19, when the machine is used for cleaning, husking or rolling ; the dirt, husks, and other waste products pass through these sifters and are drawn off by a fan or pass into a collecting device. The husked or cleaned material passes to brushing devices 46, 47, with inclined rotary brushing discs.
