Carding-engines.-In a carding-engine wherein two doffers b, c, Fig. 1, are used with two inclined conveyers a, a<1> the delivered fleeces are combined and are. fed over a roller d or an inclined plate to a horizontal laterally-travelling belt which feeds the fleece to calender rollers i and a coiling and can motion. Where two coiling and can motions are employed. the fleeces are divided by a steel blade, e, Fig. 12, on each doffer situated between the face of the doffer and the doffing comb f, Fig. 4, and attached to a shaft e<1> and an adjustable, bracket e<2>, the divided fleeces falling on to two horizontal travelling belts g, Fig. 2, and being fed through funnel plates h to calender rolls i. Alternatively, the fleeces may be divided by a ring of leather in the middle of the doffer or by a steel blade fixed between the cylinder and doffer at the point of contact. The top conveyer a is supported on brackets j and links j<1>, whereby it may be swivelled into the dotted position indicated in Fig. 1. Where an inclined plate is fitted in lieu of a travelling conveyer it may be similarly supported in brackets and adapted to be. swivelled away from its working position.
