Abstract
563,915. Carding - engines. HARGRAVE, E., and KITCHEN, F. Feb. 18, 1943, No. 2705. [Class 120 (i)] In a carding engine the web of fibres is delivered from the crushing rollers 6 by a lattice belt 1 extending the full width of the machine and passing around rollers 2, 3, 4 in a triangular path to deliver the web on to a conveyer 7 running at right angles to the direction of movement of the belt ; the belt may be driven by the rollers 2, 3, 4 driven by a chain 5 from the bottom crushing roller 6. One or more of the rollers 2, 3, 4 may be adjustable to vary the position of the belt and, as shown, the roller 3 is mounted in an adjustable arm 9 and the roller 4 in an adjustable bracket 10. A fan may be mounted within the belt to assist in the removal of the web therefrom and the conveyer 7 may deliver the web to rollers which feed it forward for any further treatment.
