Abstract
458,481. Feeding-apparatus for carding-engines. SYKES, J., c/o Sykes & Sons, Ltd., E., Krumlin Mills, Barkisland, Halifax, Yorkshire. June 24, 1935, No. 18041. [Class 120 (i)] In a Scotch, parallel fibre, or similar feed attached to a carding-engine 1 a single lattice conveyer 5 in alignment with the carding- engine and approximately at right-angles to the customary transverse lattice conveyer 4 is adapted to pass over three rollers 6, 7, 8 mounted upon or associated with articulated members 14, 15, one of the rollers, e.g. the roller 6, being adapted to rotate the lattice 5, means being associated with the members 14, 15 for reciprocating the lattice, and a tension roller 9, mounted on a shaft 13 in brackets 26, being weighted or geared to move in co-operation with the roller 7 so as to tension the lattice 5 as the carriage 23 is reciprocated across the lattice 4. The roller 6 is driven by a chain 16 from a shaft 18 which carries a disc 19 provided with a stud 20 which is connected by an adjustable rod 21 to a stud 22 on the carriage 23.
