647,684. Carding-engines. NUCLOTEX, Ltd. July 31, 1948, No. 20407. [Class 120(i)] A flat carding-engine has a secondary taker-in-roller E covered with wire clothing arranged below the usual primary taker-in roller C, roller E rotating in the same direction as, being smaller in diameter than, and having a greater peripheral speed than roller C and being so disposed in relation thereto and to the card cylinder A that it removes all or the greater part of the fibres from roller C and delivers them to cylinder A. As shown, the wire clothing of roller E is finer than that of roller C, and roller E is adjustable relative to roller C and cylinder A. Mote knives C', e<1>, and casings C<1>, E' carrying transverse grid bars C<2>, e<2> are associated with rollers C and E respectively.
