702,713. Carding-engines; cleaning arrangements in textile spinning &c. machines. ENGASSER. J. SCHMIDT-. Dec. 28, 1951 [Dec. 30. 1950], No. 30281/51. Classes 120(1) and 120(3) A cleaning device for a carding;engine comprises a plate 8 having teeth 11 which open the fibres caught up by the licker-in roll 3, and apertures 12 through which dirt, down or like impurities are withdrawn. The plate may be in the form of a segment of a hollow cylinder, and the teeth 11 produced by cutting, stamping, or punching. Slits 13 may be provided to supplement the -apertures 12 and to increase the current of air, resulting from the rotation of the roll 3, which frees the teeth of fibres tending to adhere thereto..
