Abstract

901,509. Carding engines. DAIWA BOSEKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 13, 1959, No. 24034/59. Class 120 (1). A carding machine has a perforate hollow taker-in A within which is located a stationary vacuum compartment G adjustable to open on to the inner periphery of the taker-in and to cause an air stream to flow under the taker-in. Beneath the taker-in an air chamber is provided that has an adjustable damper 13. One or more mote knives 12 may also be mounted in the chamber. In an embodiment employing a large diameter pipe structure as vacuum compartment, the mouth of the compartment opens above the location at which the taker in A and carding cylinder 4 are closest.
