Abstract

901,633. Carding-engines. DAIWA BOSEKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Dec. 9, 1958, No. 31774/61. Divided out of 901,632. Class 120 (1). A carding machine has an undercasing partially enclosing a taker-in and main cylinder, the undercasing being shaped to receive a perforated suction element which may be a plain or toothed roller or a lattice. Preferably, a suction compartment 12 is adjustably arranged with a roller 8, Fig. 3, and is connected to a fan 14. Where a perforated lattice 41, Fig. 4, is employed, a stationary suction compartment 43 is mounted within the lattice. An air chamber 9 beneath the taker-in 3 is formed with an air inlet 10 that may be provided with a damper 10<SP>1</SP> to control air flow to give the optimum separation of fibres and foreign matter. The roller 8 may be so positioned and the undercasing 6a so shaped that the roller is in operative association with both the taker-in 3 and the main carding cylinder 4.
