Abstract

1,014,689. Pneumatically feeding fibres to carding engines. DAIWA BOSEKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 31, 1963 [Aug. 7, 1962], No. 30421/63. Heading D1N. Apparatus for pneumatic transfer of fibrous material from opening and cleaning machines to a battery of carding engines comprises a duct 1, and branch ducts 3 extending downwardly from said duct and each having revolvable transfer means facing the lower end of the duct to transfer the fibres to the dish plate 6 of the respective carding engine. The transfer means may comprise a perforated belt 5 (Fig. 6) mounted underneath the branch duct 3 to extend downwardly or upwardly, Fig. 5 (not shown), and possibly having a section zone provided within Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown) or a perforated suction cylinder 141, Fig. 14, mounted beneath the duct 3, or an imperforate belt. In the latter case air escapes between duct 3 and press roll 7 and/or through perforations in the lower part of the casing of duct 3. To even the supply of fibres to successive ducts 3, the area of the openings 2 of the ducts 3 may successively be increased, or the cross-sections of duct 1 be gradually decreased, or additional air or air and fibres may be provided from auxiliary duct 61 through spaced ducts 62 to duct 1. The angles of ducts 62 with respect to duct 61 may be varied, or valves inserted in them. Control devices may comprise air shutter plate 81 adjustable within the belt, a pivoted front plate 83, a control wing 101 Fig. 10 (not shown) or rotor 111, or a plate 112.
