Abstract

1422861 Fibre flock separating apparatus MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 3 Jan 1973 [4 Jan 1972] 298/73 Heading D1N A chute for receiving fibre flock from a transporting air stream has means to deflect the transporting air stream selectively in the width direction of the chute. This means may be an adjustable guide blade 12 between centrifugal fans 4, 4' or transverse airflows provided by adjustable openings 5, Fig. 3. These openings are supplied from atmosphere in a low pressure system or from a compressed air supply in a high pressure system. Alternatively the speed of the fans 4, 4' may be relatively adjustable by means of a speed adjuster 18 or by adjusting the speeds of individual fan motors 17, 17'. The deflecting means may be operated mechanically and/or pneumatically and may be operated automatically by flock height sensors 13a, b and 14a, b in the chute to produce an even height across the chute. When both sensors are activated the supply of flock is stopped. The sensors may be optical or ultrasonic devices. The chute may be used to feed a carding engine.
