Abstract

1518596 Deflecting material conveyed pneumatically MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 13 July 1976 [16 July 1975] 29055/76 Heading B8A Fibre flocks conveyed by air pressure along a conduit 1 are either deflected into a hopper 7 or passed to an extension of the conduit 1 by means of a junction piece 2 in which the flocks are accelerated and subjected to an air pressure pulse to direct the flow of flocks. The piece 2 has a converging inlet 8 leading to a pair of openings 9, 10 interconnected by a conduit 11 to provide the pulses. As shown, a material flow to either the conduit-extension 1 or the hopper 7 causes a lowering of pressure at either the opening 9 or the opening 10 respectively. The resulting air flow along the conduit 11 from the higher pressure opening causing the flow to be switched. Alternatively, the conduit 11 may be connected to a source of compressed air operative which acts to deflect the air flow to the conduit 1 when the hopper is full.
