Abstract

1340300 Pneumatic forwarding and opening of fibres in web forming KENDALL CO 7 July 1972 [20 July 1971] 31975/72 Headings D1F and D1N A staple fibre strand is fed by rollers 17 into a guide tube 16 which is maintained at low pressure by a high velocity annular fluid stream over the exit end of tube 16 from a convergent divergent nozzle member 23. The fluid stream serves to entrain the now opened fibres and carry them through a plenum chamber, Fig. 4, to be deposited as a web on a foraminous conveyor 50 with the aid of a vacuum box 52. Suitable dimensions of the aspirator 10 are given together with suitable operating parameters.
