Abstract
988,593. Preparing fibres for spinning. NIHON SPINDLE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd., and NITTO BOSEKI CO. Ltd. Jan. 22, 1962 [Jan. 25, 1961], No. 2219/62. Headings D1F and D1N. Fibre feeding apparatus comprises a duct through which fibres are conveyed by an air stream and fibre receiving shafts branching from the duct, each receiving shaft being connected to the duct by an inlet and a subsidiary passage. A "resisting block" is interposed at the junction of each shaft with the duct and serves to define walls of the inlet and subsidiary passage. As described, laps of fibres issueing from a scutcher A are severed at B by directing a blast of air across the lap by means of traversing nozzles. The severed portions of lap are then conveyed in an air stream through the duct C to the junction with a shaft D where the "resisting block" 7 is located across the subsidiary passage between the rear wall 7<SP>11</SP> of the block 7 and rear wall of the shaft D, a filter netting is located to prevent upward movement of fibres between these walls. This filter netting is maintained clear of fibres by an air jet directed above the netting. From the shaft D fibres are drawn by wooden rollers 12 on to a dish plate 14, Fig. 4, from which they pass between a heater roller 16 and a grid and mote knife element 19 above a dust box 25. Under the roller 16 are suction cage rollers 20, 21 that are as long as the succeeding carding engine is wide and are enclosed within a cover and duct arrangement 17, 18. Delivering rollers 30, press roller 32 and feed roller 33 operating in association with a dish plate 31 feed the fibres into a carding engine. Specification 988,594 is referred to.
