Abstract

936,628. Forming twisted slivers. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Sept. 6, 1961 [Sept. 15, 1960], No. 31823/60. Classes 120 (2) and 120 (3). Slivers are formed by feeding fibres continuously to a zone where they are deposited on a conveyer surface and then withdrawing the fibres from the surface in such manner that they are rolled by the surface and thereby twisted. Ducts 10 for carrying fibres in a fluid stream are arranged with nozzles set at an angle to a foraminated conveyer 12 so that fibres continuously deposited by the ducts and drawn away by rollers 13, 14 are rolled by the surface of the conveyer and thereby twisted. Beneath the delivery ducts 10 suction ducts 11 may be provided. Instead of an endless band conveyer a perforated disc may be used. The apparatus may also include a drafting system.
