Abstract

916,917. Sliver conductors; drawing frames. MACKIE & SONS Ltd., JAMES. Oct. 21, 1959 [Oct. 27, 1958], No. 34349/58. Class 120 (1). A drawing frame, particularly one for the treatment of hard fibres such as sisal and manila, has closed ducts 3 to conduct slivers issuing from drawing rollers 2 to delivery rollers 5, 6 where the slivers are doubled, so that each sliver is totally enclosed between the two sets of rollers and suffers no abrupt change of direction. The ducts 3 are preferably circular cross-section pipes shaped to approach the delivery rollerswhich may be parallel with the drawing rollersfrom opposite sides. The delivery rollers may have a slight lead over the drawing rollers.
