Abstract

1,137,814. Blending fibres. O-M Ltd. 27 April, 1967, No. 19459/67. Heading D1F. The production of a blended sliver of broken synthetic filaments and natural short length fibres is effected in a single machine comprising drawing heads 5 for the natural short fibres and breaking heads 6 for the synthetic long filaments mounted in alternate relation on a stand block 1 above a conveyor belt 3 which receives fleeces delivered from the respective heads, a series of draft rollers being arranged at the delivery end of the conveyor for forming the superimposed fleeces into a blended sliver. Slivers 9 of short fibres are drawn from cans through guide plates 11 to drafting rollers of heads 5 for delivery as single fleeces from roller 18 to the conveyor belt. Simultaneously slivers 10 of long filaments are drawn from cans through guide plates 12 to heads 6. Each breaking-head 6 includes a nip roller and three adjustable loading rollers 42-45. The lower 34<SP>1</SP> and 35<SP>1</SP> cause breaking of the sliver. pairs of rollers 33-35 frictionally rotated by pairs of rollers including the smaller rollers
