Abstract

1295455 Feeding fibres MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 3 Nov 1969 [8 Nov 1968] 53731/69 Heading DIN [Also in Division B8] A duct 19 for a fibre-carrying air stream has, at each branch chute 22, 23, a smooth surfaced rotatable cylinder arranged to act as a fibre stream deflecting element to direct fibres into the branch chute. The cylinder can be externally driven or it may be rotated by the air stream, either about its axis of symmetry or eccentrically. Preferably the cylinder is arranged directly above the downstream wall of the branch chute. The distance between the cylinder and chute wall 21 can be adjustable. The cylinders adjacent a series of branch chutes can be arranged one above the other in the direction of fibre flow, so as to maintain the speed of the transporting air stream. The branch chute walls can be perforated to exhaust the deflected air stream.
