Abstract

1513947 Pneumatic bale openers H HERGETH [trading as HERGETH KG MASCHINENFABRIK UND APPARATEBAU] 17 July 1975 [17 Aug 1974] 29965/75 Heading D1N A bale is opened by means of suction applied through a suction head 17 and maintained until the suction head is moved to a material discharging position. The suction heads are raised and lowered by rams 19 which are initiated when the suction in the heads reaches a predetermined degree. The heads are mounted on a turntable so they can be swung around to deposit the material on a conveyor 34. Wheels 27 allow the heads to be moved along a row of bales, Fig. 5 (not shown), the conveyor carrying the fibre to a mixed bale breaker. The suction may be generated by a fan on the suction head or a fan on the turntable. The suction air is passed through a filter.
