1307463 Granulating slag GOSUDARSTVENNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT STROITELNYKH MATERIALOV I IZDELY AND KRIVOROZHSKY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI METALLURGICHESKY ZAVOD IMENI LENINA 8 April 1971 9093/71 Heading C7X A device for granulating molten slag comprises a funnel 1, channels 3, 7 and 11 located under the funnel, each channel having a rectangular crosssection and a flat bottom, deflecting shields 6, 10 and 14 located at the output of each channel, a batcher 15 and a conveyor 21. Each channel is provided with a water supply head 4, 8 and 12, and a nozzle 5, 9 and 13 for directing air against the slag in the channel. The bottom of each channel is formed by a series of rods 24 and the walls 22 are attached to levers 28 having counterweight 29 attached thereto. The parts of the channel are therefore free to expand when in contact with the hot slag. The batcher consists of a tilting scoop 15 resting on a frame 16 which can turn about an axle 17 and is counterbalanced by a weight 18. It is closed by a gate 19 hinged on an axle 20.
