Abstract

1376356 Fibre opening and lap forming HONSHU PAPER CO Ltd 4 April 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 15451/72 Heading D1N In a web forming apparatus fibre flock is delivered via a duct 10 to a foraminous cylinder 102 containing rotary beater blades 101. A casing 113 surrounds the cylinder 102 and is supplied with air through variable valves 116 and slots 115 to carry opened fibres downwards onto a foraminous conveyor 119. Below conveyor 119 is a main suction chamber 120 and an auxiliary suction chamber 124. Main suction chamber 120 is divided across its width by partitions 121, each duct so formed having a damper 123. The rotary beater comprises blades 101 having tapered arms on an annular core, Fig. 4 (not shown). The blades are mounted at random angles on a shaft 110. Suitable values of the distance h between the cylinder 102 and conveyor 119 and the pitch of the holes in the cylinder are given.
