Abstract

933,845. Carding-engines. DAIWA BOSEKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Sept. 8, 1961 [Sept. 22, 1960; Oct. 1, 1960; Aug. 1, 1961], No. 32404/61. Class 120(1). A carding machine has an air chamber enclosed by four walls below the licker-in and provided with an opening for the inflow of air, a perforated rotary cylinder containing a suction compartment being mounted in the chamber adjacent the main carding cylinder. As illustrated in Fig. 1, the perforated cylinder 8 may be mounted below the licker-in 3 in working association with the main carding cylinder 4. A mote-knife is preferably located beneath the licker-in, as at 30 in Fig. 5 or may be attached to the end of an undercasing covering lower parts of the licker-in and main cylinder. Such an undercasing may be shaped to form a duct 42 that may include a damper 50. Where the undercasing is connected to a wall of the air chamber 6, provision may be made for sliding adjustment between a member connected with the wall and a hinged part of the undercasing. A similar arrangement is illustrated in the embodiment of Fig. 10 in which the lower edge of a wall 104 may carry a sheet of resilient material 105 and means for easily adjusting the position of the wall are provided. The undercasing arrangements for two lickers-in are as shown in Fig. 10. The perforated cylinder 8 may be clothed with sawtooth wire and, in addition to a suction chamber within the perforated cylinder, an arrangement for discharging air in the direction of the main carding cylinder can be provided. Specification 901,633 is referred to.
