921,789. Carding-engines. GIDDINGS & LEWIS-FRASER Ltd. June 15, 1961 [June 21, 1960], No. 21733/60. Class 120 (1). A carding-machine of the type having worker and stripper rollers below a main cylinder and a cover above the cylinder is provided with a screen fitted between feed mechanism and the adjacent end of the cover in such manner as to permit the flow of air but not of fibres through the screen thereby permitting the air currents induced by rotation of the cylinder to escape without loss of fibres. The screen 8 may be in the form of a comb of parallel wires and adjacent the screen 8 may be secured a cage 9 of wire mesh to collect dust that escapes through the screen. Specification 885,475 is referred to.
