Abstract
293,976. Garnett, Ltd., P. & C., Drabble, E., and Leather, C. W. I. July 14, 1927. Openers. - In a double rag-tearing machine, a bit roller b<1>, Fig. 1, which returns large pieces of rag to the feed apron, is employed on the second unit B in addition to the bit roller a' on the first unit A. The material treated at A is blown by the fan a<2> past the feed end a<3> of the machine and is fed by perforated rollers a<1> at the end of the flue a on to the feed end b of the second machine from which it is delivered by a fan b<3> and perforated rollers b<2> on to a conveyer b'. The casing b<5>, b' is shaped as shown to serve as a stripper plate. In a modification, the delivery flue b<8> of the second machine B, Fig. 2, is continued under the flue a of the first machine and the material is delivered from the rear end of the first machine by rollers a<5> and a fan a<7> to a conveyer a<6>.
