Abstract

334,252. Armstrong, Whitworth, & Co., Ltd., Sir W. G., and Middleton, B. M. May 31, 1929. Gins.-In a double roller Macarthy gin in which the ginned cotton is delivered from the rollers on each side of a central discharge shoot for the seed, the seed is collected or discharged to a delivery trough 1, Figs. 1 and 3, so arranged that a substantially unobstructed passage is provided for the ginned cotton whereby it may be removed from one side only of the machine. A screw or like conveyer 3, Figs. 1 and 2, is provided to feed the seed along the trough 1 to a discharge shoot 2 at one end of the machine. Alternatively the trough 1 slopes to a central discharge 8, Fig. 3. In the machine shown in Fig. 2, the lint from the rollers B falls on to a plate, 5 and is thereby deflected to the left-hand side of the machine, while the cleaner F for the right-hand roller B is hinged on a guard 6.
