Abstract

535,291. Ironing machines. SWIFT, J. March 14, 1939, No. 8107. [Class 138 (ii)] Apparatus for feeding flat articles to ironing machines comprises driven rollers 3, 4 mounted in pivoted levers 10 above a table or conveyer 1 and provided with spirally arranged bristles extending in opposite directions from the centre of each roller whereby the fed articles are straightened out laterally. A counterweight 7 normally causes the front roller 3 to be raised to permit introduction of the article whereupon a treadle 6 draws over this roller to effect the feed to the ironing roll 5. The treadle is then released whereupon the counterweight 7 lowers the roll 4 which then has a drag and straightening effect.
