Abstract

289,363. Striidel, P. Aug. 24, 1927, [Convention date.]. Feeding openers.-In a machine for opening woven or knitted materials, having a series of movable spoon members 53 associated with a fluted roll 16 to feed the material to the rotary drum, guide members 72 having sloping lower surfaces are mounted on the members 53 and cooperate with a second fluted roll 75, having deeper and more pointed flutes than the roll 16. The roll 75 rotates more quickly than the feed rolls 9, 10 and the roll 16 more quickly than the roll 75. The spoon members 53 are controlled by springs 57 and are mounted side by side in a guide 54 and secured in position by a removable cover-plate 70. The upper feed roll 10 is controlled by springs 57.
