Abstract
739,268. Fibre drafting devices. COLLINS & AIKMAN CORPORATION. Aug. 13, 1952, No. 20347/52. Class 120(2). A fibre drafting device comprises a top slip draft roll centred forwardly of a horizontally adjustable bottom driving roll, with which it enters into driving engagement through end portions, and a shaft for the slip draft roll which has a multiple-surface eccentric member positioned upon it for engagement with a support, to provide an adjustable means for maintaining a predetermined relationship of the slip draft roll relative to the front drawing rolls. The slip draft roll 19 mounted on a shaft 25 in association with a similar roller is held against an apron driving roll 16 by a spring 21 and is supported against a fixed inclined support 32 through the intermediary of polygonal members, as 26. In order to adjust the top roll 19 relatively to an apron nose bar 14, appropriate faces 30 of the polygonal members 26 are turned to bear against the support 32. Every face is located a different distance from the centre of the shaft 25. In other modifications, the members 26 may be replaced by members having arcuate sides co-operating with arcuate supports or by generally circular eccentrics provided with a number of pivot points adapted to cooperate with correspondingly formed supports. The top roll 19 may be solid, or a shell, or have end collars flanking a pinned portion. The apron may be dispensed with. U.S.A. Specification 2,246,474 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 663,573.
