Abstract

In double apron drafting apparatus, one. of the aprons is supported over at least part of its operative run by a grooved support, and a yieldable member is fitted to engage the rear surface of this apron as it passes over the grooved support, the member being formed with a localized projecting part which bears against the apron to produce a small area of increased pressure on the fibres being drafted. In Fig. 1, the support is a grooved plate 13 carried by an arm 14 mounted on the axis of the apron roller 15 and loaded by springs 20, 21. An interchangeable leaf spring with a bowed part projecting against the apron is. hooked over the rear end of the plate, In Fig. 2, the apron roller 15 is grooved to provide the grooved support, and a leaf spring, attached to the plate, has a bowed part 33 projecting into the groove. In Figs. 3 and 4, not shown, springs are provided for both plate and roller; in Fig. 3, that for the plate is adjustably mounted and in Fig., 4, its bowed part projects through a slot in the plate.
