Abstract
298,252. Richardsons, Westgarth, & Co., Ltd., and Burn, W. S. May 6, 1927. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In fuel injection apparatus a filter is provided between a fuel valve 13 and spraying orifices 3, 4. As shown in Fig. 1, the filter comprises a member 2 threaded externally and fitting within a bored cap 1; the fuel is fed through holes 8 to grooves 7 which do not reach the bottom of the member 2 and leaves by grooves 10 through an annular space 6; grooves 12, tangential to a small flattened end 11 of the member 2, whirl and convey the fuel to the orifice 3. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 5, the atomizer comprises a central passage 14, radial bores 15 and an annular passage to the orifice 4. The apparatus shown in Fig. 1 is cooled by providing air spaces 22, 22* between the cap 1 and protecting members 16, 18, the member 18 being water-cooled.
