Abstract

117,884. Babcock & Wilcox, (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). Jan. 23, 1918. Nozzles for producing whirling sprays.-An atomizer applicable for spraying oil fuel comprizes a nozzle head' 7 having an annular groove 9 in its face communicating by ducts 8 to the supply and leading to passages 14, which are tangential or inclined to a whirl chamber 13 formed in a plate 11 provided with an exit orifice 12 and clamped to the face of the nozzle head. The nut 10 which clamps the plate 11 to the nozzle head 7 is coned, as shown, to form a continuation of the coned recess of the plate 11.
