Abstract

252,221. Jones, E. W., and Hargreaves, R. A. Jan. 23, 1925. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - The fuel nozzle is of the type adapted to inject an ignition fuel in advance of a power fuel and comprises an aperture a<1>, Fig. 4, and divergent spraying passages a in a part 2 secured by a screwed cap 4. The aperture a<1> is controlled by a valve in the form of a ferrule 3 mounted on the reduced part b of a spindle 6 which is loaded by a spring 7. Longitudinal passages c are formed through the member 3 to conduct power fuel supplied by a pump through the duct f and cavity d to the nozzle outlet. Ignition fuel is supplied through a duct g to an annular space h and thence along grooves k formed partly in the cylindrical and partly in the conical surface of the member 3 and between the passages c. The ignition fuel is fed just prior to the power fuel.
